In a social media post on December 29, while sharing a payment invoice for her next song to Aknotela Entertainment Ltd, an international music production company, Akothee said she prefers them to local producers due to their professionalism, unlike those in Kenya who view her as competition.

She added that music producers in Kenya take advantage of female artists, using them as tools to sleep with, unlike international producers who treat artists as business partners, which is why she works with the latter.

“And you wonder why I produce my songs outside the country. These international producers have mastered the art of professionalism. To them, an artist is a business partner, not an object to sleep with or competition. Yes, we pay for value, not time,” Akothee said.

The award-winning musician further called out Kenyan producers, urging them to style up and stop manipulating local talent, particularly female singers.

“Kenyan producers must style up and stop using manipulation to control talent. Music is very emotional and personal,” Akothee added.

The “Abebo” hitmaker advised fellow female artists to stay professional, only pay for the services required, and avoid being used as tools by male producers.

“As a female artist, don’t allow conjugal talks with producers. Stay professional, pay for the services, and stop anything further…” she penned.

Akothee concluded by saying that the audio of her next song is ready and was produced by DJ Coublon, an international producer. She added that the song has its own target market and that the video will be out soon.
