
Renowned musician Akothee has expressed her emotions after a boy she calls her son topped the 2025 KCSE exams at his school.
In a social media post on January 9, Akothee reacted to the outstanding performance of Darel Austine Kokeyo, a boy whose mother passed away. He scored an A grade in the KCSE examinations, emerging as the top student at Maranda High School.

The musician said that she wished his mother were still alive to witness and celebrate the impressive achievement. Akothee further stated that she would be go with Darel Austine to collect the results.
“I don’t know why I am crying, but trust me, I wish your mom was alive to celebrate this, my son. My son is number one at Maranda Boys. Darel Itieka Chuth, going to collect these results with you.” Akothee said.
The musician went on to explain that Darel, the best friend of her son, Ojwang Ja Swiss, calling her “Aunty” has had a huge impact on her life.
“You calling me ‘Aunty’ has shaped a lot in my life. Best friend to Ojwang Ja Swiss, a very disciplined boy,” Akothee added.

While revealing the conversation between her and Darel, Akothee expressed how proud she was of him for emerging as the best student at Maranda Boys.
In the conversation, Akothee asked him to name the gift he wished for, and in response, the boy requested a MacBook laptop, which he said he would use for online classes.
Without hesitation, Akothee said the matter was settled and asked him to immediately send the invoice to the relevant authority for purchase.

Darel attained a KCSE mean grade of A. He scored straight As in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. In other subjects such as English, Physics, and Aviation Technology, he earned A- grades. In Kiswahili, he managed a B (plain).
