For the past few years, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has emerged as one of Kenya’s young politicians, attracting significant public interest.
Apart from his journey from university leadership to Parliament, his spouse, Fridah Muthoni Ongili, has also been in the spotlight, embodying the saying that behind every successful man is a woman.
Although she doesn’t engage directly in politics, she has been a key support to Babu Owino in his recent successes, including his two terms as a Member of Parliament.

Educational Background
For her primary education, Babu Owino’s wife reportedly attended Lions Primary School in Embu, where she achieved impressive results, scoring 443 out of 500 marks.
Following her success in primary school, Fridah joined Loreto Limuru, where she scored an A-minus in her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
She then enrolled at the University of Nairobi, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Economics as well as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualification. In addition, she also completed a course in Business Management.
Career
Just after completing university, Fridah Ongili first worked as an intern and later as a banker at I&M Bank, but she did not stay long, as her true passion lay in the fashion world.
In an interview with her husband, Babu Owino, she revealed that she had loved drawing and designing even during her secondary school days. As such, she knew she could not spend many years in employment without returning to her true calling.
“I loved to draw and design even in high school, but after joining employment, I decided to revert to what I love,” Fridah Muthoni told Babu Owino.
Today, Fridah runs her own fashion brand, Fashion and Ministry (F&M), which mainly focuses on women’s clothing and accessories. She believes that women should not only be beautiful on the outside but also on the inside.
