Former Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala paid a visit to Mama Ida Odinga with a special gift in honor of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

After visiting the Odinga family home, Opoda, in Bondo on Friday, 21 November, Balala took to social media to share his visit to Mama Ida, where he offered condolences following the death of the late ODM boss, Raila Odinga.
During the visit, the former Cabinet Secretary in Uhuru Kenyatta’s government presented a camel to Raila Odinga’s widow, describing it as a traditional gesture of comfort and solidarity.
“Earlier today, I joined fellow Kenyans in mourning and offering my heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida Odinga following the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. I also presented a camel as a traditional gesture of comfort and solidarity,” Najib Balala said.
Balala, also a founding member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), praised the late Raila for not only being a voice for the less privileged in the community but also for leading a party that played a huge role in transforming Kenya’s political landscape.

“Raila dedicated his life to giving a voice to the vulnerable and the marginalized. The ODM party transformed the political landscape into a strong and inclusive political movement that has shaped and defined our country,” the former Cabinet Secretary added.
Balala concluded by urging Kenyans to uphold the vision of Raila Odinga, where every citizen is heard, empowered, and respected.

Balala’s visit comes at a time when several leaders from across the political divide, as well as Kenyans from all walks of life, have been visiting Mama Ida and her family to mourn Raila Odinga.
