First Daughter Charlene Ruto has paid a visit to the Odinga family, over a week after ODM boss Raila Odinga died. The President’s daughter, who was accompanied by other mourners, visited the Odinga family to condole with them on Tuesday, 28th, in Bondo, Siaya County.

“Today, I condoled with the Odinga family as I visited the grave of the late Hon. Raila Odinga in Bondo, Siaya County.
Various mourners were also present, paying their last respects, and we shared in the moment together as I reflected on my encounters with Baba before he passed on.” Charlene Ruto said.
Charlene was warmly received by Raila Odinga Junior and Ida Odinga, among other family members of the late former Prime Minister. Odinga Junior, who is now the head of the family, took Charlene on a tour of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Museum. Additionally, they paid respects at the graves of Raila Odinga, Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and Fidel Odinga.

“Raila Junior showed me around the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Museum, where he is digitally enhancing the history of his family, the Luo community, and Kenya at large. We also visited the graves of his grandfather, the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and his late brother, Fidel Castro Odinga. Mama Ida Odinga warmly received me at the Opoda Farm, where we reflected on our days at the Highlands Schools (Moi Girls’ Eldoret) and shared lighter moments on how we can continue supporting young women.” Charlene added.
Charlene Ruto’s visit to the Odinga family comes at a time when a large number of Kenyans have been visiting the home of the late ODM leader to mourn with the family. From politicians to musicians to ordinary citizens, many have stood in solidarity with Raila Odinga’s family.
