The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has sent a heartfelt message about Raila Odinga as Kenyans mourn the loss of the former Premier.
Taking to his social media accounts on Friday, 17th October, the French head of state stated that France joins Kenyans in mourning the death of a key leader who shaped the country’s democracy.

Macron further described Odinga as a voice of justice and freedom, as well as a believer in Africa’s unity and integration.
“As Kenya mourns the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, France joins the Kenyan people in paying tribute to a leader whose courage and commitment shaped the country’s democratic journey.” he said.
He mourned with the friends and family of the late Raila Odinga, as well as with Kenya as a whole during this difficult moment. Emmanuel Macron noted that France stands behind the people of Kenya.
He expressed hope that Raila’s legacy will continue to light the path for Kenya and Africa.
“In these difficult days, our thoughts are with his family and with all Kenyans who are mourning the loss of a national figure.
France stands beside the people of Kenya in this moment of grief. May Raila Odinga’s enduring legacy continue to light the path for Kenya and for Africa,” Macron added.
Kenyans Mourn Raila Odinga
Raila Odinga’s State Funeral Service, held at Nyayo Stadium, was attended by several leaders from across the country from President William Ruto to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as opposition leaders led by Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa, among many others.

The funeral service was attended by thousands of Kenyans who came to mourn the late Prime Minister. He is expected to be buried on Sunday, 19th October, in a private ceremony.
