After visiting the Emali–Matiliku road on the evening of Friday 14th, Kalonzo took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to expose the state of the road just days after President Ruto launched its construction. According to Kalonzo, all the big machinery meant for constructing the road is nowhere to be seen, and no work has begun since.

Kalonzo Musyoka accused the President of using his Ukambani tour for publicity stunts, alleging that project progress stops as soon as the cameras stop rolling, not only in Ukambani but across the country.

The co-principal of the United Opposition went on to claim that such projects are announced for PR purposes while locals wait in vain for real work to begin.

“Visited the Emali–Matiliku road, which was launched just two days ago by Mr. Ruto. Shockingly, all the big machinery is gone and no work has begun. This pattern repeats itself across the country, a regime more interested in grand launches and photo opportunities than in actual progress. Projects are announced with fanfare, but the people are left waiting for real work to happen.” Kalonzo Musyoka said.

The former Vice President further stated that Kenya Kwanza’s empty promises are why the majority of the country is demanding that President William Ruto serve only one term.

“This is why the whole country sings WANTAM as our second national anthem,” Kalonzo added.

This comes as President William Ruto has pitched camp in the Ukambani region, where he has launched several projects in the past few days and wooed support as he seeks a second term in 2027.
