Babu Owino Overjoyed as Nairobi Lady Endorses his Governor Bid

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino continues to gain popularity among Nairobians as he seeks to contest for the capital’s governor seat in 2027. Paul Ongili Owino, who first came to the limelight during his tenure as the chairperson of the Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU), is undoubtedly one of the first rising politicians in the country.

For instance, Babu’s gubernatorial bid has recently gained traction as the lawmaker has been backed by popular leaders, including Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor Jalang’o.

In addition to other leaders’ support, the ODM MP has seemingly won the hearts of several Nairobi residents, including a lady who has gone viral on social media for stylishly backing his governorship ambitions.

As per the video online, the young lady introduced herself as a resident of Nairobi who turned up to register as a voter. She urged her fellow youths to also register in large numbers so as to ensure that Babu Owino emerges victorious in his quest for the top seat in Nairobi.

“We must get a Governor in 2027, and that is Babu Owino. Guys, get your voter registration and vote for him in 2027,” she said.

While responding to the lady, Babu Owino shared her video on his social media accounts, stating:

Nevertheless, the Embakasi East Member of Parliament is expected to face stiff competition in his gubernatorial bid. First and foremost, he will have to drum up support to unseat Governor Johnson Sakaja, who is eyeing the support of President William Ruto and ODM boss Raila Odinga.

Other contestants include former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, and Embakasi North lawmaker James Gakuya.

Among all these aspirants, the Embakasi East MP seems to enjoy the support of the youths, mostly the Gen Zs, as seen in the viral video (shared above).

Could such viral support signal real momentum for Babu Owino’s 2027 governorship bid?
