As the head of state, President William Ruto, with his wife, First Lady Rachel Ruto, and some of their children, is often in the spotlight. For his siblings, it has been rare to see them at public events or even accompanying Ruto at some occasions.

One of those who has in the past appeared with William Ruto is his younger brother, David Samoei Ruto. He has, on a countable number of occasions, been seen with the President, more so when he was on the verge of becoming the commander in chief.

Although his elder brother is on a political path and is currently the most powerful politician in the country, David Samoei has a different venture.

In this segment, Times Digital Kenya takes a closer look at the educational background and profession of President Ruto’s younger brother.

Education

Although, together with William Ruto and their other siblings, David Samoei grew up in a humble background, most of them went through their early education in tough conditions but proceeded.

For David, after his early education, he went on to pursue his higher education, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management Information Systems from Indiana State University.

Thereafter, he obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration from Capella University. Through such education, he developed skills in strategy, software implementation, enterprise resource planning, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft SQL Server, and data conversion.

In addition to this, he also gained expertise in business process design, business analysis, business intelligence, Microsoft CRM, Structured Query Language, and solution architecture.

Profession

David Samoei began his career over 16 years ago, in 2000, as an assistant production planner at Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) in Indiana, United States. Here, he worked for only one year.

He later joined Sia Abrasives in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2002, where he worked as a shipping manager. Through excellent work, David was then promoted to a systems/ERP administrator a year later.

After working at Sia Abrasives for four years, he joined Oldcastle Inc. in 2006, where he worked as a Management Information Systems trainer.

Not long after, David Samoei Ruto joined Columbus IT as a consultant. In this role, he worked providing solutions and assessing business requirements.

He stayed at Columbus IT for a few years before leaving in 2010 for Hitachi Solutions America. There, he held different roles until 2018.

Having spent the better part of his career working abroad, David returned to Kenya, where in the same year he was appointed Managing Director of Kreative Concrete Products—a position he holds to date.
