“I’ve Heard Your Cry” — Moses Kuria Reveals the Top Seat He’ll Seek in 2027

Former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, Moses Kuria, has officially revealed the top seat he will be seeking in the 2027 general election.

Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday, October 13, Kuria announced his intention to vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat, currently held by Johnson Sakaja.

The vocal Mt. Kenya politician said that President William Ruto had spoken to his heart during a church service on Sunday, where the Head of State addressed issues affecting Nairobi. He further noted that ODM leader Raila Odinga had repeatedly told him that the capital city should not continue to be plagued by filth, garbage, and incompetence.

Consequently, Kuria stated that he had heard the cries of both Ruto and Raila and would therefore offer himself to run for Nairobi’s top seat. He promised to fix the city if elected.

“Dear President William Ruto, today you spoke to my heart. Like Prime Minister Baba Raila Amolo Odinga has told me countless times, Nairobi cannot continue to be the city of filth, garbage, and incompetence. I have heard your cry. That is why I will offer myself to be the Governor of the great County of Nairobi in 2027. I will fix Nairobi,” Kuria wrote on X.

Competition for the Nairobi Governorship

The Chama Cha Kazi party boss will face stiff competition in his quest for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat. First and foremost, he will have a tough task unseating Governor Johnson Sakaja, who enjoys the backing of both President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

As if that’s not enough, Kuria will also face Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, a member of the ODM party. Owino is widely seen as one of the frontrunners in the race, and Kuria’s entry is expected to make the contest even more interesting.
