“There is a New Landlord in TOWN” Gachagua Told as Mt Kenya Locals Welcome Ruto in Huge Numbers

Controversial Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has reacted to President William Ruto’s massive reception in the Mt. Kenya region on Tuesday. Ruto visited Laikipia and Nyeri County as he kicked off his Mt. Kenya tour, and his reception has been a subject of debate.

Although President Ruto insisted that his tour in the Mountain is purely aimed at developments, he also drummed up support for his presidential bid ahead of the 2027 election. Since the impeachment of his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, Ruto barely visited the central region.

Now, his tour in the vote-rich region is perceived as a way to reclaim support, having enjoyed huge backing from residents of the area in the 2022 general election. Prior to his tour in Mt. Kenya on 1 April, his critics, especially those from Rigathi Gachagua’s camp, expected a low turnout in Ruto’s rallies.

However, that is not the case, as the head of state got a resounding reception as he traversed the region for the better part of the day. According to photos on his social media accounts, Ruto pulled huge crowds as he made stopovers in Nyeri as well as Laikipia County.

As a result, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi expressed his feelings in accordance with how Mt. Kenya residents attended Ruto’s events. Taking to X platform, Mutahi directed his message to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, citing that one cannot ‘buy’ a Kikuyu but only ‘rent’ them.

As such, Mutahi Ngunyi claimed that Gachagua has been only enjoying the support of the mountain people because Ruto had not visited the region for a while. Ngunyi further alleged that the Mt. Kenya region is fully behind William Ruto but not Rigathi Gachagua.
