At just 40, Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has risen through the ranks to become one of the most popular politicians from Mount Kenya and across the country within the past 10 years.
His dedication to improving schools and education in his constituency has placed him among the most likeable lawmakers in the country.
Although he was raised by a peasant farmer mother and a small-time carpenter father in the Kiandutu slums of Thika, Nyoro has beaten the odds to build an impressive academic résumé.

Due to his excellence in education, his policies on education in Kiharu are seen as a way to give back to society.
In this segment, Times Digital Kenya highlights Ndindi Nyoro’s educational background, including his secondary school and university credentials.
Ndindi Nyoro’s early education
As seen earlier, the youthful politician was raised in a humble background where his parents were not wealthy, and as such, he did not attend the most expensive schools as a child.
He attended Gathukeini Primary School from 1991 to 1999, where he sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam.
At the time of completing his primary education, he had lost his father, which made life more difficult as he now depended on his mother to pay school fees. For instance, he was admitted to Kiaguthu Boys but could not afford the fees.
Nyoro was lucky to join Kiambugi Boys, where the principal, a family friend, agreed with his mother to pay school fees in installments. After four years, he sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

While his exact KCSE grade has not been revealed to the public, reports indicate that Ndindi Nyoro was the only student from Kiambugi Boys who qualified for university admission that year.
University Qualifications
After completing secondary school in 2005, Ndindi Nyoro was admitted to Kenyatta University (KU), where he studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and graduated in 2009.
While at Kenyatta University, he was a student leader and also worked part-time as a stockbroker to raise funds to support his stay on campus.
Over a decade after his first degree, Nyoro returned to university in 2023 to undertake two master’s programs.

He pursued a Master of Arts in Economics at the University of Nairobi and a Master of Economics in Public Policy at Kenyatta University, attending classes both online and in person.
