Being part of a prominent political family comes with certain privileges both within and outside politics. While some children from such families follow in their parents’ footsteps in politics, others choose the path of business.
One good example is former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s only daughter, Ngina Kenyatta, who has embraced her family’s entrepreneurial footsteps rather than politics.
Although she lives a low-key lifestyle unlike many of her peers who are children of other politicians, Ngina, a granddaughter of Kenya’s founding president, has invested in a posh and exclusive restaurant.
In this segment, Times Digital Kenya takes a closer look at the restaurant Ngina Kenyatta runs, where it is located, and the services it offers.
Details of Ngina Kenyatta’s Restaurant
In the middle of the Kenyatta family’s tea estate in Lari, Kiambu County, lies a posh restaurant dubbed The Green Experience.
It has been running and offering services for nearly eight years. Ngina Kenyatta, together with some of her family members and friends, launched the restaurant on May 5, 2018, when Uhuru Kenyatta was still President.
As its name suggests, The Green Experience restaurant offers a serene, greenery-filled setting that provides a relaxing experience.
Ngina’s restaurant features classy, world-class designs as well as high-class fittings. In addition, it has outdoor seating areas that offer a good view of the family’s tea estate.
As if its features were not good enough, in 2022 the restaurant underwent major renovations, which elevated it to even higher standards, making it an attractive destination for local and international tourists as well as others seeking leisure or a beautiful place to spend time.
Aside from its features, The Green Experience restaurant hires highly trained chefs who prepare fine dishes paired with specific wines and other refreshing beverages.
That’s not all. Even after guests enjoy the delectable dishes, they get a chance to go on an educational tour around the tea farm, where they learn about tea and sample special varieties grown in the country.
