Ted Kitana, famously known as Mr. Kilunda, was among the pioneer actors of Tahidi High on Citizen TV. Throughout his time at the show, Mr. Kilunda was the center of attention among the teachers. This is as he played the role of a very strict teacher.

Unfortunately, after featuring at the Tahidi High show for several years, his time came to an end. As a result, Mr. Kilunda had to look for alternatives during the harsh period of covid-19. He moved to his home village, where he ventured into farming so as to make ends meet.

The Rise to Fame: Mr. Kilunda on Tahidi High
Mr. Kilunda, real name Ted Kitana, shot to fame through his role as a typical teacher on Tahidi High. He was a darling of many viewers via his unpredictable nature of treating students.

Mr. Kilunda would occasionally clash with students and use his power to deal with them. A lot of people watched the show to see if Mr. Kilunda could keep up with the students’ pranks. It was a lot like reenacting the Tom and Jerry cartoon show.

His prowess to effortlessly bring a teacher’s character (no-nonsense) to life made him a fan favorite, hence gaining a huge following in the country.

The Shift: Transition from Stardom to the Village
In 2020, Mr. Kilunda left the city life for his home village. This was after the Tahidi High show ended amid the harsh economic situations affected by the Covid-19.

Ted Kitana had no choice but to return to his rural home in Kangundo, Machakos County. While in the village, the ex-Tahidi High actor invested in various businesses, including salons, an M-Pesa shop, and a farm. Mr. Kilunda heavily relied on farming as his constant source of income. He actually learned farming while still young as his father was a farm owner.
“I relocated to Kangundo, Machakos County, and ventured into farming.” Mr. Kilunda
He has employed 4 staff at his workplaces with the exemption of the farm.
Where is Mr. Kilunda of Tahidi High?
As of now (2025), the former actor still lives in Kangundo, Machakos County.

Interestingly, his wife and children reside in Nairobi City. Nevertheless, Mr. Kilunda insists that he loves the village life due to the availability of fresh food and a stress-free life. He has no plans to relocate to the capital city unless a job opportunity (acting) arises.
