Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has sent a warm welcome message to President William Ruto ahead of his state visit in her county.
Wanga who is a close ally to former prime minister Raila Odinga affirmed that the national and county governments should work together in order to have more developments.

Now Wanga has publicly invited the head of state in the Nyanza county for his scheduled visit that is planned for next week.

“There is a constitutional provision that the national and county governments are interdependent… That’s why we are telling your excellency (President Ruto), he is welcome to Homa Bay on the date that he’ll come.” Wanga said.
This will be William Ruto’s 4th visit in Homa Bay since assuming office as President of Kenya.
Is Ruto seeking to stamp authority in Homa Bay county?
Political pundits see Ruto’s frequent tour in the county as a way to woo support in the Luo Nyanza, a region perceived to be the opposition’s strong hold.
However a section of Ruto’s allies from Luo Nyanza have insisted that the President’s tour in Homa Bay is development oriented but not a political visit.
Last trip to Homa Bay
The last time President William Ruto visited Homa Bay county for the home coming of permanent secretary Raymond Owalo, leaders from Azimio la umoja boycotted the event.

During the tour, Ruto commissioned several development plans and headed to another Nyanza county, Kisumu where he also oversaw some projects.
