Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the government of President William Ruto of deploying police officers to block him from campaigning.

In a social media post on Monday 23, Gachagua claimed that the state had issued instructions to police officers to block his entourage from accessing Narok Town, where he was campaigning for DCP candidate, Douglas Masikonde ahead of the by-election.
“Clear instructions had been issued by this cowardly and brutal regime to block me and my entourage from accessing Narok Town to campaign for the DCP Party candidate for Narok Ward, Hon. Douglas Masikonde,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua further added that, with the help of Narok residents, they were able to overcome all the roadblocks. He applauded them for their resounding welcome, noting that he was able to rally behind the DCP candidate for the upcoming by-election in the region.

The DCP party leader went on to express his confidence that Douglas Masikonde will emerge victorious in the 27th November by-election.
“Being a villager, I engaged my fellow villagers in Narok, who guided me through village paths unknown to the police, and I made a triumphant entry into Narok Town, where I was received by thousands of jubilant DCP supporters,” Gachagua added.
The former Deputy President concluded by warning the government, noting that neither excessive police force nor intimidation will deter his team.

“No amount of blood money, police brutality, or excessive force will cow or intimidate the people of the Republic of Kenya,” former DP Gachagua said.
This comes as the 27 November by-elections draw closer, with the opposition led by Gachagua keen on consolidating their support across the country. On the other hand, the state, led by President Ruto, seeks to strengthen its influence in key areas in including Narok.
