In the face of greater adversity, Atieno has proven to be a resilient force who is more than capable of being in the kind of demand with multigenerational listeners that gleaning attention would only further. Her music kinda screams out an ageless essence that vibrates lovingly with fans.

With more than 12 albums released, Atieno has also effectively navigated the new landscape of the gospel music industry in an age of digitalization.
What Happened To Mary Atieno’s Eyesight
Mary underwent various challenges in life due to her visual impairment, and that propelled her to greater heights, whereby she did not let her nature prevent her from achieving her goals, even though music was largely dominated by men at that particular time.

Mary was born in Kirengo village, Karungu, in Nyatike District, Nyanza, and life threw many challenges at her from childhood. Raised amid societal norms and expectations, she triumphed over her sight limitation.

Mary Atieno’s parents had no inkling that their daughter was blind at birth, so they only came to realize her distress when she was five months old. They tried to treat her, but her sight got worse, and Mary’s parents visited several hospitals, including King George VI Hospital (now Kenyatta National Hospital), but all in vain.
Mary has been to various countries around the world through her music, sharing messages of love, hope, repentance, and faith. She grew up in a difficult environment and, by God’s grace, has surmounted many challenges.
