Taking to social media on December 5, after Gift Osinya, his adopted son, graduated from Scott Christian University, Sonko celebrated his success, noting that he had overcome many obstacles thanks to God.

“See God! The God of miracles. The God of second chances. The same God who held Gift and Satrine when darkness tried to swallow them. If this is not God, then what is? Today, Gift Osinya graduates from Scott Christian University — a moment only God could write,” Mike Sonko said.

Sonko went on to reminisce about the past challenges his sons, Gift and Satrine (Gift’s younger brother), faced, recounting how Gift stood tall after Satrine was shot in the head by Al-Shabab 11 years ago.

The former Makadara Member of Parliament thanked God for carrying his two sons through the storm and enabling Gift to graduate.

“Many remember their story: tragedy struck, Satrine was shot in the head by Al-Shabab, and young Gift stood strong like a lion. God spared them, healed them, lifted them, and rebuilt their lives from ashes,” Sonko added.

Sonko concluded by praising Gift for making him and his family proud following his graduation despite the past challenges.

“Gift, my son — we are proud. This is just the beginning. God’s hand is on you, and every dream He placed in you will come to pass,” the former Nairobi Governor asserted.

Mike Sonko adopted both Gift and his younger brother Satrine after their mother died in 2014 following a tragic attack by Al-Shabab in Garissa.

Since then, the former Governor has taken care of the two brothers, and thankfully, 11 years later, Gift Osinya has graduated from Scott Christian University.
