“We are a responsible corporate citizen and a global stationery leader.” Paloma Lengema, General Manager at BIC East Africa
Nairobi, Kenya, 27 November 2024– BIC recently celebrated the Global Education Week in Nairobi, Kenya. The global leader in lighters, stationery, and lighters collaborated with Mwiki Primary School, Githurai, in renovating some facilities in the institution. With doing so, it is aimed to create a suitable environment and great school conditions that will help students have an enjoyable journey while learning.
BIC celebrates Global Education Week in November every year. This initiative helps to inspire the diverse educational systems in which they are involved. During this period, the BIC team not only uplifts the education sector but also gives back to society.
“Our commitment to education is evident through initiatives we run across the year.” said General Manager at BIC East Africa, Paloma Lengema.
Additionally, BIC works hard to unleash youth’s creativity outside of the classroom. Later, they support the students as they enter the workforce through various programs. A good example is their previous partnership with Enactus.
Mr. Peter Muriithi, head teacher at Mwiki Primary School, was elated by BIC’s commitment to renovate the school facilities and classrooms.
“We are grateful for partners like BIC who are committed to supporting the sector and supporting us to provide students with the right ecosystem to help them achieve academic excellence.” Mwiki Primary School headteacher, Peter Muriithi.
Global Education Week has impacted hundreds of students and teachers in Kenya after 5 editions. This is as BIC aims to improve learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025. As of now, the company has impacted at least 200 million students.
