Vocal lawyer Wahome Thuku has called out Ukambani leaders after they warmly welcomed President William Ruto during his tour of the region.

Through his Facebook page on Wednesday, 12th, Wahome Thuku accused governors, senators, and members of parliament, among other Ukambani leaders, of accompanying President Ruto in a region perceived to be Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s stronghold.
The Mt. Kenya lawyer, a loyal supporter of the opposition, wondered how Kalonzo is expected to unseat Ruto in 2027 when his Wiper Party allies from Ukambani appear close to the President.
“Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni are Kalonzo Musyoka’s home ground. And by Kalonzo Musyoka, I mean the man we are supposed to be replacing William Samoei Ruto with in 2027. Kalonzo’s men should be miles away from Ruto,” Wahome Thuku said.
Wahome Thuku went on to say that the people of Ukambani should be twice as unhappy with President Ruto as those from Mt. Kenya. Additionally, the lawyer argued that if Mt. Kenya leaders are not supposed to associate with Ruto, then the same should apply to leaders from Kitui, Makueni, and Machakos.

The seemingly frustrated Thuku concluded by claiming that Ruto receiving a warm reception in Kalonzo’s backyard suggests that the people of Mt. Kenya are being deceived into supporting the Wiper boss, Kalonzo Musyoka, even as his close allies dine with the Head of State.
“If Mt. Kenya is 40 times unhappy with Ruto, Kitui should be 80 times. If Mt. Kenya is having sleepless nights over Ruto, Makueni should be having sleepless days and nights. If we can’t allow our Mt. Kenya senators to greet Ruto even with gloves, then the senators of Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni should not touch him with a stick. If I can’t even take a cup of tea in Sugoi, how do I elect someone who can take dinner and even sleep there? Anything else, we Mt. Kenya people are just being fooled,” the vocal lawyer added. Wahome Thuku’s remarks come just hours after President William Ruto pitched camp in Makueni County, accompanied by a section of leaders from the Ukambani region, including Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo and Senator Daniel Maanzo both of Wiper Party. Ruto’s visit aimed to woo support in the region, a stronghold of Kalonzo Musyoka, one of the leaders expected to face him in the 2027 General Election as he seeks a second term.
During his tour, the President assured the Ukambani people that they will be part of his government and, as a result, enjoy more development projects.
