As the 2027 General Election inches closer, political leaders are vying to assert their influence in their respective regions. In the vote-rich Mt Kenya region, several prominent figures are expected to play a key role in shaping voter decisions.
From Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, the region is yet to settle on its political kingpin.

In an effort to identify the Mt Kenya kingpin ahead of the 2027 General Election, Kameme FM radio presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba conducted an online poll to find the answer.
Taking to her official Facebook page on Tuesday, October 14, the popular media personality asked Kenyans, especially those from the Central Kenya region, to pick the Mt Kenya kingpin between Rigathi Gachagua, Uhuru Kenyatta, Kithure Kindiki, and Ndindi Nyoro.

“Vote on the circle options. Poll closes at 2pm, Thank you” she wrote on Facebook.
Online users participated in the poll for at least eight hours, ending at 2 p.m when Muthoni officially closed the voting. According to the results, a majority of Kenyans voted for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who garnered 68% (73k votes). He was followed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta with 22% (23k votes).
In third place was Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who secured 8% (7.5k votes), while Deputy President Kithure Kindiki came last with only 2% (2.5k votes).
Muthoni thanked netizens for turning out in large numbers and making their voices heard.

Yours faithfully, Returning Officer Baby T,” Muthoni, also known as Baby Top, wrote
