The Iconic female rapper was raised in The Bronx, which has the fourth-largest Hispanic population in the US with a Hispanic population of 53.5 percent, the majority of whom are of Dominican heritage.
Her family lived in poverty, as she also attended a public high school in New York City that was both racially and economically segregated. Cardi also experienced marital abuse, like many Latinas there who stayed there.
