Deputy President Rigathi is now on the verge of looking for a new political party amid speculation about his fallout with President William Ruto.
Local newspaper, Daily Nation, reports that the second-in-command is seriously weighing the option of living outside the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The newspaper further reports that DP Gachagua is keen to join the New Democrats (TND) if his split with Ruto worsens.
This is as David Musembi, the Secretary General of TND, told the Nation that they have been in contact with close foot soldiers of the DP with the aim of establishing a working relationship in the near future.
“There have been talks, but there is nothing tangible to speak about at the moment. Maybe something will come out later.”
Musembi told Daily nation.

Rift between President Ruto and Gachagua
In recent days, there have been reports that the two leaders have not been on good terms.
For instance, Rigathi Gachagua didn’t show up at JKIA when President Ruto jetted back from the USA just a few days ago. Instead, Ruto was received by some leaders from Mt. Kenya (close to him), who include CS Kithure Kindiki and Kimani Ichungwah.

That’s not all. The DP has been on the receiving end of Ruto’s close allies, including Oscar Sudi, who has engaged in attacks against Gachagua days after his visit to the North Rift.

Evidently, the ‘battles’ between Gachagua and Ruto’s team are seen as one of the key reasons why the former now wants to join a new political party as soon as possible.
