Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has thanked the people of Kirinyaga County for giving him a warm and resounding reception on Sunday. Taking to his X account on Sunday, October 12, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) boss expressed his gratitude to the residents of Ciagiini, Kamuthanga, and Kiandai for their hospitality throughout the rallies.

Gachagua, who was accompanied by several opposition leaders including former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua, among others, promised to return to Kirinyaga in the near future.
“A big thank you to the people of Ciagiini, Kamuthanga, and Kiandai of Kirinyaga County for the hospitality and ecstatic reception! Tutarudi tena!” Gachagua said on X (formerly Twitter)
This comes as the opposition camp pitched its tent in the Mt. Kenya region over the weekend, drumming up support to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
During the tour, the former Deputy President cautioned leaders from the Central region against betraying the Mt. Kenya community and sowing political division. Gachagua further vowed to publicly expose any leaders he termed as traitors to the region’s unity.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who also attended the rallies, vowed to stand with the people of Kenya. He affirmed that the opposition is prepared to face any consequences for speaking out against President Ruto’s administration.
“Kenya stands at a crossroads today, and that is patently clear. This Government-In-Waiting with HE Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua, Speaker JB Muturi, Eugene Wamalwa, continuously faces the wrath of slings and stones slung by a scared and petrified Ruto regime because we stand with and for The People of Kenya.” Kalonzo said on X (formerly Twitter)
Kalonzo Musyoka’s remarks came as the opposition team, led by Rigathi Gachagua, intensified efforts to consolidate support in the Mt. Kenya region, with a strong message of unity and resistance against what they termed as betrayal of the people’s trust.
