Speaking through his social media on Tuesday, November 11, Muturi laughed off the government, citing that his life is going on perfectly despite being fired several months ago.

The former National Assembly Speaker further stated that the biggest mistake he made was accepting to work with Ruto’s government and that fighting for the rights of Kenyans is the best decision he has since made.

“Nilifutwa wakidhani nitapotelea… kumbe maisha yanaendelea! Kupigania haki za Wakenya sio kosa, na kuajiriwa kwa hii serikali ndo ilikuwa makosa kubwa!” Justin Muturi said.

Muturi’s remarks come a few days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleged that he fought for Muturi’s position in Ruto’s government during the naming of Cabinet appointees following the 2024 Gen-Z protests. Speaking at the launch of Muturi’s new book, the ex-DP recounted how he personally intervened with Ruto to include Muturi in his final Cabinet lineup following an earlier reshuffle.

Muturi, who served as Speaker for 10 years during Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime, has recently been vocal against Ruto, accusing the state of abductions and killings of Gen Z critics of the government.

Plans to unseat President Ruto

Justin Muturi is among the few former allies of William Ruto now determined to make him a one-term President. The former Attorney General has not only joined forces with Rigathi Gachagua but also with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in a bid to unseat Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
