Over the years, it has been a norm for a majority of Kenyan men to marry before the age of 40. This is backed by a research done by World Bank data that indicates that the average age for a Kenyan man to get married is 26.
However this is not the case for several popular men in Kenya who have decided to stay unmarried even after attaining the age of 40 and above.
In this article, Times Digital explores some of the Kenyan men who are above 40 but are not married.

Shaffie Weru

Famous Kenyan media personality Shaffie Weru is likely never to get married.
Shaffie Weru who is around 45 years old revealed that he gave up on marriage during a past interview.
He even claimed that his mother and other relatives have given up on him to walk down the aisle.

“I think that was never for me and will never happen. I tried na imekataa,” he said as quoted by The Star.
Maina Kageni
The Veteran Classic 105 radio host has no plans to get married despite being around 50 years old.
During a past interview, Maina Kageni revealed that he loves women but he is not ready to marry.

He believes that marriage isn’t suited for everyone and he got his inspiration from Sir Charles Njonjo who married at around 54 years old.
“Sometimes marriage is not for everyone but never say never and I believe that, you know why? Sir Charles Njonjo got married at 54 or 59 na ako 100 sai ..wewe oa tutakuzika 63” he said as quoted by Pulse Kenya.

Patrick Njoroge
The governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Mr Patrick Ngugi Njoroge is yet to marry despite his advanced age.

Mr Njoroge doesn’t see marriage as a priority and he is not ashamed of being a bachelor at his age.
He is now around 60 years old and his plan to get married is not yet clear.

“I am single by choice and not ashamed to tell my grandma so. I have personal ideals to pursue. There are no sinister motives..” He told the parliament while being vetted in the past.
