Although he has been a Member of Parliament for three terms, Oscar Sudi is one of Kenya’s politicians who lead the most lavish lifestyle. At his home in Eldoret, the Kapseret constituency MP is nicknamed “Sonko,” likened to the wealthy.

He has invested in various sectors, and his wealth has enabled him to own a beautiful home he could hardly have imagined in his early years.

According to Sudi, he began working at the tender age of 14, selling charcoal in Kesses, next to Moi University Main Campus.

Whether hailed as a self-made hustler or scrutinized for his flamboyant lifestyle, he remains a significant figure in Kenya’s political landscape. Many questions have been raised about the source of his wealth.

On his part, the MP—who has on many occasions acknowledged that he did not study much—said he built the house from his own resources through his multiple businesses.

Located in Kapseret, Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, Oscar Sudi’s home is said to have cost around Shs 100 million.

The house made headlines in 2016 when the then Deputy President, now President, William Ruto, officially opened it. According to Sudi, he built the house as a gift not only to himself but to his entire family, as a way of celebrating how far they have come.

It features a swimming pool, an expansive lawn suitable for hosting political gatherings, and multiple structures within the compound.

The mansion also boasts modern flooring, beautiful furniture, and home offices for Oscar Sudi and his family members. According to the lawmaker, most of the materials used to build the house were shipped from abroad, including China.

Oscar Sudi attributes his achievements to the sheer determination and ambition he displayed while growing up.
