“The salary you get is not yours but the people’s … and by the time you get out of Parliament, you are worse off than when you went in. It is really frustrating,” Mak’onyango said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.

In what depicts his life in poverty, Otieno Mak’onyango’s two roomed rusty house was put up in his friend compound.

According to the Standard, Mak’onyango life turned to be a contrast of his millionaire status as his situation turned from bad to worse to a point he couldn’t even afford food.
“I survive by the grace of God. I have been boxed here. This is the worst form of torture as people reasonably find it hard to donate money for the upkeep of a millionaire.” Otieno Mak’onyango said as quoted by The Standard.

To make matters worse, the former MP’s health condition derailed as a result of hypertension and diabetes.
