Mathira Lawmaker Alleges Planned Meeting Between Ruto and Kalonzo

Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has claimed that former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is expected to visit State House in the coming weeks.

Posting on his Facebook page on 9 Thursday, Wamumbi speculated that following the recent visits to State House by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and KANU chairman Gideon Moi, Kalonzo could be the next political heavyweight to meet President William Ruto.

Wamumbi, a vocal critic of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urged Kenyans not to take politics too seriously. He noted that even Uhuru and Gideon Moi, who were once in opposing political camps, have recently held talks with Ruto.

“William alitembeza Uhuru State House juzi. Gideon Moi ametembezwa State House leo. In the next few weeks, Kalonzo anatembezwa akiwa na kikombe ya chai. Siasa apana weka kwa roho,” said Eric Wamumbi.

Just a few hours after meeting President Ruto, Gideon Moi officially withdrew from the Baringo Senatorial race, raising eyebrows about the details of their discussion.

Kalonzo Wooed by the Government

In recent months, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been under increasing pressure to join the current administration ahead of the 2027 General Election. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is among the top leaders who have reportedly been courting Kalonzo on behalf of President Ruto.

On the other hand, the veteran Ukambani leader has maintained that he will remain in the opposition, where he is expected to be among the frontrunners to face Ruto in the 2027 Presidential Election.

Eric Wamumbi’s speculation about a planned meeting between Kalonzo and Ruto at State House is therefore one to watch closely in the coming days.
