Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah has now claimed that the government is working closely with one of the opposition leaders to cause a rift among the United Opposition.

While speaking on Friday, 14th, as various candidates of DCP for the upcoming by-elections were handed their certificates in Kisa East Ward, Malalah alleged that Governor George Natembeya is being paid to ensure government candidates win.
Cleo Malalah further stated that Natembeya had earlier visited Kisa East Ward with the aim of dividing DCP and DAP party members, both of whom are from the opposition. The DCP deputy party leader cautioned Natembeya against collaborating with the government of President William Ruto, citing that the state has failed to deliver on its promises to the people.
“Serikali imeona tunaenda kushinda hizi viti zote (by election), ikampa mmoja wetu pesa, Governor George Natembeya. Serikali ilimwambia Natembeya aende Kisa East, uchokore, ili upinzani upoteze na serikali ishinde. Leo Natembeya ametoka Trans Nzoia akakuja hapa kutugonganisha watu wa DCP na DAP,” Malalah said. The former Senator went on to caution other opposition leaders against turning on each other, noting that their biggest enemy is President William Ruto. Malalah stated that the United Opposition’s plan is to make Ruto a one-term president, as the government has failed to uphold the rule of law, and has promoted nepotism, corruption, and other malpractices.
It is morally wrong for leaders in the United Opposition to rock the boat from within. We have one enemy: the man who disregards the rule of law, fundamental human rights, and continues to perpetuate corruption, nepotism, and the plunder of public resources in Kenya. His agents should consider themselves adequately notified,” Malalah added. Watch here
Among the candidates that accompanied Malalah at the rally were the Kisa East Ward candidate, Aduda Okwiri, and the Malava Constituency candidate, Wakili Edgar Busiega Mwanga.

This comes after Governor George Natembeya asked the DCP candidate for Kisa East Ward to step down in favor of the DAP candidate. The Trans Nzoia county boss urged that if he cannot field a DAP candidate in the Mt. Kenya region in favor of DCP, then the same should apply vice versa in Western Kenya, where the former is stronger.
