Some of the most popular Kenyan Politicians came into limelight through different careers.
In this article, Times Digital is going to look at those who were actors before joining the political arena.
Sabina Chege
The former Murang’a woman representative Sabina Chege was once an actor in a very popular TV drama series. Chege was an actress on the famous Tausi TV drama series that aired on KBC TV in the 1990s.
Just before she started acting, Sabina Chege was a househelp in Kayole, Nairobi. This was immediately after completion of her high school studies because her parents were financially unstable.

“I became a house help after I cleared form 4. I was not happy because despite having performed well I was just at home plucking Tea.” She said during the past interview.
Later, after she managed to go to the university, Sabina Chege starred at the Tausi TV show and even became a radio host at a Kikuyu station. Now, she is one of the most vocal politicians in Kenya having been a woman representative and a nominated member of parliament.
Alfred Mutua
Dr Alfred Mutua was also an actor before he joined politics. Mutua was a star actor at the famous Cobra squad that aired on NTV.
He later served as a government spokesperson during Mwai Kibaki’s regime. After he completed his term, Alfred Mutua was elected as Machakos Governor for 10 years and now he is the cabinet secretary of foreign affairs.

Jalang’o
Jalang’o, who is the member of parliament of Lang’ata constituency, came to limelight as an actor in the popular Papa Shirandula TV drama series at Citizen TV.
Jalang’o would later join radio stations where he worked as an host at Kiss FM, Radio Maisha and even Milele FM. Now he is a first term lawmaker at the national assembly.
