National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and his family are mourning the death of his elder brother.

In an X post on Wednesday, 10 December, Wetang’ula announced the passing of his sibling, James Mukhwana Wetang’ula, a retired teacher.
The National Assembly Speaker urged Kenyans to offer their prayers and support as they mourn the death of James.
“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my dear elder brother, Mr. James Mukhwana Wetang’ula,” Moses Wetang’ula said.
On his part, Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi also mourned the death of their elder brother, James Mukhwana.
He said that James fought his battles with courage during tough moments and leaves behind a legacy that will surely guide them throughout their lives.

“As a family, it is painful and deeply unsettling, but we remain grateful to God for the gift of his life. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, ‘give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus,’” Wanyonyi said.
James Mukhwana was the son of Dominic Khaemba Wetang’ula and the late Mama Anna Wetang’ula, and the twin brother of Virginia Mulongo Sikhoya.
His other siblings include Dorothy Watila, Mary Ongamo, Scolastica Opemo, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, Fred Wetang’ula, and of course, Moses Wetang’ula.
As described by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, James Mukhwana was a devoted husband and father.
