Who is Richard Chacha?

Richard Chacha is a veteran media personality who worked for NTV for over a decade. 

During his spell at the Nation media group, Richard Chacha was a TV reporter before being promoted to a political affairs editor.

Prior to joining NTV in 2004, Chacha was a vernacular radio presenter at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) 

However in the recent past, the Iconic journalist has not been seen on TV screens. 

Now, Times Digital explores why Richard Chacha never appears on our television screens.

Richard Chacha accident that left him paralyzed

Chacha who was at the peak of his career when he was involved in a tragic road accident that would be the turning point of his life.

This happened when the veteran journalist was traveling in a Toyota Land Cruiser alongside NTV editor Fred Karema and his CCTV counterpart Emmanuel Tallam. 

The incident happened along Mahi-mahiu-Narok highway over 10 years ago. 

After the road accident, Richard Chacha was left paralyzed forcing him to give up on his career thereafter.

“It was very tough. I remembered I used to run around in the corridors of parliament conducting interviews. And then I realized I could not even access most buildings… “

said Chacha during a past interview as quoted by Tuko. 

Friends turned back on him

 

The former NTV journalist learned a great lesson after he left NTV with some of his close allies not interested in him. 

This is as they thought he needed help every time he called them.

” I wonder what happened to some of these close friends. Maybe, they thought that whenever I called, I would be asking for help, which was not the case.”

Richard Chacha told The Standard during a past interview.

Now, Richard Chacha has got new friends who they’ve had new experiences.
