Corruption has been an ill vice that has not only affected Kenya but also many countries in Africa for several years. Since independence, every regime in Kenya has tried to curb corruption cases in vain.
This has hugely affected innocent individuals in different sectors and led to waste of taxes meant for development of important public services and projects.

The cases have not only been reported at the national level but also within most counties in Kenya.

Causes of corruption in Kenya
Most people are forced to pay bribes due to different factors such as avoid delay in services, demands from service delivery sectors while others are involved in corruption as they see it as the only way to access services.

Other causes of corruption include; high level of unemployment, poor governance, political instability and illiteracy among other factors.
Which sector is the most corrupt in Kenya?
Several sectors have been involved in corruption in one or another way but there are those that are notorious in Kenya.
Human Resource Management is reportedly the most corrupt sector in the public service with project implementation and public procurement also in the list.

According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Government agencies and departments that have high cases of corruption include the police service (55.4%), immigration department (4.4%) & registrar of persons (4%).
The most corrupt counties in Kenya
A report by EACC reveals that service seekers in different counties in Kenya pay large amounts of money so as to receive services.

The top counties where service seekers pay huge sums of money as bribes are West Pokot, Nairobi, Murang’a, Kisii and Uasin Gishu.

The article indicates respondents from West Pokot county pay an average of Shs 56, 695 while in Nairobi it ranges at Shs. 37, 768.
Others include, Uasin Gishu (Shs. 11,136), Murang’a (Shs. 8,378) and Kisii (Shs 6,810).
